eTip 1

Did you know that changing the SA password causes SQL Reporting service to stop functioning?

If the SA password for PowerScribe One or PowerScribe 360 Reporting is changed, the SQL Reporting Services (SSRS) stops working. This is experienced by not being able to run reports in the Nuance RadPortal (Shows Statistics rather than the reports), and not being able to access the native SSRS site.

The error message that is seen when accessing the SQL Reporting Service by the SQL Administrator is similar to:

Error: Microsoft.ReportingServices.Diagnostics.Utilities.ReportServerDisabledException: The report server cannot decrypt the symmetric key used to access sensitive or encrypted data in a report server database. You must either restore a backup key or delete all encrypted content. Check the documentation for more information.

To address this issue, you need to:

  1. Create a SQL login with SA rights to use in place of the SA account.
  2. Log in to the SQL server and launch the Reporting Services Configuration Manager.

  3. On the Reporting Services Configuration Manager, click Encryption Keys.

    The Encryption Keys dialog displays.

  4. From the Delete Encrypted Content area, click Delete to delete the current Encryption Key.
  5. Click the Database, and under Current Report Server Database Credentials area, update the existing SA credentials being used for the new account you created in Step 1 above.

  6. On the Reporting Services Configuration Manager, select Web Portal URL.

  7. On the Web Portal URL dialog, click the URL to launch the Native SQL Reporting Application.
  8. Select Nuance Data Sources and drill down to the COMM4 Data Source, click the ... three dots, and then click Manage.
  9. Reset the data source as shown below in the ps360user example by updating the password for either the ps360user or the PSOneUser.

  10. Apply your changes and restart the SQL Reporting Services via the Service Manager.
  11. Log in to the Nuance RadPortal.
  12. From System > Configuration > Other Settings, update the Reports User account and password so that PowerScribe One or PowerScribe 360 Reporting reinitiates the connection to the Reports Server.
  13. Select Logs > Reports Tab to run reports.

If you are still unable to run reports, please contact Nuance Technical Support for assistance.

eTip 1

Did you know that you can take steps to improve speech recognition accuracy?

These procedures will ensure that the volume level of your recorded dictation is optimized and will allow for the speech recognition engine to use more CPU processing to take a more granular approach; thereby, more accurately choosing the correct words spoken.

Adjusting the Microphone Recording Level

Before attempting to fix any misrecognized words or phrases, make sure the system is recording your dictated content with the recording level being configured at an appropriate level. This is accomplished by using the Audio Setup Wizard.

It is very important to follow the step-by-step instructions exactly as written. Doing so has proven to deliver the largest boost in recognition accuracy for most users.

The following describes how to run the Audio Setup Wizard.

  1. Log in to the PowerScribe Client.
  2. From Speech, select Audio Setup.

    The Check Microphone dialog displays.

  3. Click Next.

The available audio devices will be displayed.

  4. While the optimal position for a headset shown above is one inch from your mouth, for a hand-held microphone the optimal position for dictation should be to hold the microphone out at the furthest distance at which you would normally hold a microphone when dictating.

  5. Click Start Volume Check and read the text as instructed until you see Finished.

Once you click Start Volume Check, you see Listening as shown below.

Remember to speak at a normal dictation level and maintain your head positioning when reading the text aloud if you are dictating with a hand-held microphone.

  6. Click Next, and then click Start Quality Check, and start reading the text normally until Micro Phone Test Passed displays.

  7. Click Finish to finish the audio setup.

Adjusting the Speed Versus Accuracy Setting to 70%, Favoring Accuracy

The following includes step-by-step instructions on how to adjust the "Speed Versus Accuracy" setting to 70.

IMPORTANT: It is very important to follow the step-by-step instructions exactly as written as the goal is to increase the accuracy setting to 70 percent, favoring accuracy.

  1. Click the PowerScribe Client application so it is in focus and active.
  2. On the Menu bar, click Speech > Options.
  3. In the Options dialog, click the Miscellaneous tab.
  4. In the Speed vs. Accuracy section, use your mouse to move the slider to the right as far as possible.
  5. Click Apply to save this setting.
  6. Click OK to exit the Options dialog.

At this point, a message may appear stating that the maximum allowable adjustment cannot exceed 70 percent and will be adjusted automatically. This is perfect!

eTip 2

Did you know that you can resolve very slow user login issues for at-home-users with limited bandwidth?

As more physicians work from home, you may encounter a situation where a physician has a very slow connection. To address this, you can help minimize the log-in and log-out times.

The at-home-user will have to perform a speech enrollment that will create a new profile on the local workstation.

To resolve this issue:

  1. Install the PowerScribe 360 Client and Dragon.
  2. From the PowerScribe 360 File menu, check Offline Speech Files mode BEFORE the user enters their login credentials.

This mode tells the PowerScribe 360 Reporting application to create and use a profile on the local workstation. This will eliminate the time it would normally take to download a user's roaming profile from the Application Server.

After the Offline Speech Files mode is checked, a confirmation dialog displays.

This mode is sticky and remains in this mode until the user manually turns it off.

  3. Click Yes.

Another confirmation message displays to use offline speech files.

  4. Click OK.

eTip 3

Did you know that as a System Administrator, you can resolve PowerScribe Remote Client login issues with Dragon?

As more physicians work from remote locations (home) without access to a network share, you may encounter occasional login issues with Dragon speech errors.

Often, these login errors start with a message “An error occurred trying to load speech files……

When this occurs, a few simple measures can be taken to get the physician working quickly.

Follow each option in order below:

Option 1

  1. Ask the user to enter their username and password, and then hold the LEFT SHIFT KEY down when clicking on the Log In button.

This action forces a complete copy of the user's profile to download.

  2. If this option did not solve the issue, proceed to Option 2.

Option 2

If Option 1 did not solve the issue:

  1. Ask the user to close the PowerScribe 360 application.
  2. Navigate to: C:\ProgramData\Nuance\Dragon SDK Client Edition12\RoamingUsers\Location_1.
  3. In the Location_1 folder, locate the file that is named the same as their user ID, and delete the file.
  4. If this option did not solve the issue, proceed to Option 3.

Option 3

If Option 2 did not solve the issue:

  1. Ask the user to close the PowerScribe application.
  2. Log in to the RadPortal, as the system administrator.
  3. From the Setup, Accounts tab, locate and select the user's account.
  4. From the Roaming Profile list, select Restore Checkpoint (Entire Profile).
  5. Ask the user to log in to the PowerScribe 360 application.
  6. If this option did not solve the issue, proceed to Option 4.

Option 4

If Option 3 did not solve the issue, or the user does not have a Checkpoint profile, and to get the physician working as soon as possible, you should set the user to use Offline Speech Files on the local workstation.

To enable Offline Speech Files on a local workstation:

  1. From the PowerScribe 360 File menu, check Offline Speech Files mode BEFORE the user enters their login credentials.

This mode tells the PowerScribe 360 application to create and use a profile on the workstation. This will eliminate the time it would normally take to download their roaming profile from the Application Server.

This profile will not contain any words the user may have trained in the past on the roaming profile.

Once the Offline Speech Files mode is checked, a confirmation dialog displays.

This mode is sticky and remains in this mode until the user manually turns it off.

  2. Click Yes.

A confirmation message displays to use offline speech files.

  3. Click OK.
  4. Ask the user to log in to the PowerScribe 360 application.
  5. From the PowerScribe 360 Help menu, select Collect Logs.

This uploads to the user's workstation logs so that the issue can be investigated.

  6. Please contact Nuance Support to open a case to investigate the cause of the issue, advising Nuance Support that the user's logs have been collected.

PowerConnect Actionable Findings

eTip 1

Did you know that if your Android Mobile device cannot complete the login to the PowerConnect Actionable Findings Mobile App after authenticating with Single Sign On, you can resolve it with just a few clicks?

If an Android Mobile user cannot log in to the PowerConnect Actionable Findings Mobile Application and is redirected to an In-App Browser after authenticating with Single Sign On, the user will need to complete some changes to how Chrome connects to the Single Sign On page, before they can set a 6-digit passcode.

To fix this issue, follow these steps:

  1. Open the PowerConnect Actionable Findings Mobile Application.

  2. In the Username field, enter your email address.

    The In-App Browser displays.

  3. On the In-App Browser, tap Open in Chrome and the log in Single Sign On landing page displays.
  4. Enter your email address in the Username field.
  5. Scroll to the bottom of the Single Sign On landing page, and in the Open with Clinician area, click ALWAYS.

  6. You will then see the Mobile Clinician application where you will be asked to set a passcode.
  7. Input a 6-digit passcode of your choice without repeating digits.

After these steps, the Android Mobile user is provided access to the PowerConnect Actionable Findings Mobile Application.

PowerShare Network

Top

eTip 1

Did you know that you can validate the local image counts against studies uploaded to PowerShare?

Validating local image counts against studies uploaded to PowerShare is an important part of the image sharing process. Thus, users should understand how/where PowerShare lists image counts for uploaded studies.

As of the PowerShare Network 2020.1 release, study image counts are listed below the preview images on the images tab, nominations page, and advance search results page. Image counts are broken down into medical image and non-image files. Users should include both image counts when calculating the total image count for a study.

Tip Medical images are the image files that are captured during the scan of the patient. Non-image files are additional files included to supplement the study such as presentation state, structured report, or radiology therapy report files.

Multi-frame images contain multiple frames that some PACS count individually.  PowerShare counts each Multi-frame image as a single image.

eTip 2

Did you know that you should respond to notification emails from your contacts on PowerShare?

PowerShare has configurable email notification preferences that allow users to be notified by email when certain events happen on PowerShare such as:

  • Contact invite requests
  • Contact Image share requests
  • Contact Image upload/share confirmations

Users should note that replies to email notifications are not delivered to the contact whose action triggered the PowerShare email notification.

To reply to your contact, you should:

  1. Log in to PowerShare.
  2. Select the Messages tab.
  3. From the Messages list, click the message subject and add your response to the message in the context window, or the corresponding queue (requests/PACS).

  4. Reply to the message.

eTip 3

Did you know that you can sign up to receive emails from PowerShare support regarding maintenance, upcoming releases, etc.?

PowerShare Support maintains mailing lists for our PowerShare users which are updated monthly.  Updates are exported directly from the PowerShare Network each month.  So, after you add to your facility’s physician, clerk, and admin users, they are automatically added to our mailing lists the following month.

Note: If you have an email address you want added to the support mailing lists that does not correspond to a PowerShare user account, you can submit a support request to have it added.  Be sure to include the first and last name of the user as well as their email address.

Requests can be submitted via the Nuance Healthcare Support site or by emailing support@nuancepowershare.com.

Be sure to remove the unsubscribe links at the bottom of our support emails before forwarding to others.  This prevents others from clicking those links, thus unsubscribing you from our mailing lists.

What's new

The following Nuance software version has been released:

mPower Clinical Analytics 20.03.1 - (Cloud)

The key features of mPower Clinical Analytics 20.03.1 are highlighted below.

  • User Bulk Upload
  • Session Timeout
  • Data Clean Up
  • Data Merging
  • Maximize Negative Findings
  • My Dashboard
  • Datasets (beta)
  • HL7 Interface to mPower
  • Updated RVUs for 2020 Reporting Year
  • Bulk Upload
In addition to the current options of manually creating new users or having the users create a login shell by attempting login prior to creation (requires admin to go back and set permissions), this new version allows for a bulk user upload from an Excel spreadsheet.
  • Session Timeout
Session Timeouts can be configured by Organization. Default is set to 2 hours.
  • Data Clean Up
As data is updated or remapped (i.e. PMT), there may be fields created that no longer have foreign keys pointing to them. This means that these data fields remain in the system but have no data associated to them. The new Data Clean Up functionality now gives admins the ability to remove this data from the system.
  • Data Merging
With this update, admins will be able to merge certain types of data. Data types that can be merged include Organization, Point of Care, Reporting Provider, and Ordering Provider. This feature will allow for modifying data currently in mPower.
  • Maximize Negative Findings
Allows users to identify reports that reference a key word but do not have a positive finding.
  • My Dashboard
The Individual Contributor Dashboards under "My Dashboards" have been greatly enhanced. This includes new dashboards, enhanced functionality on existing dashboards, additional filters to customize the view, and the ability to drill-down to specific reports directly from the dashboards.
  • Datasets (still in beta at this time.) The newest version of mPower is introducing a new way to organize data called Datasets. With datasets, you will now be able to organize reports with similar results into groups of reports. These datasets then can be used for other purposes including:
    • Evaluate different AI vendor algorithms to see which offer the best results for your facility
    • Train AI algorithms with consistent data
Since mPower contains the signed reports from PowerScribe, we can now leverage both the historical data and the analytics functionality within mPower, through datasets, to group similar reports together and then pass that "group" on for further analysis.
  • HL7 Interface to mPower
An HL7 interface option to upload data to mPower is now available. This option will expand the sources of data that can be sent to mPower. This will allow for enhanced reporting with results/filters that expand beyond just PowerScribe data.
  • Updated RVUs for 2020 Reporting Year
RVU values updated for 2020 reporting year.

PowerShare 2020.1

The key features of PowerShare 2020.1 are highlighted below.

  • Support for DICOM SR/RT/GSPS
DICOM SR/RT/GSPS files will be processed through the JWS and HTML5 uploaders. The studies can be pushed to PACS once in PowerShare. Uploading these file types via an Accelerator will require an upgrade to Accelerator 3.0.
  • Images Page
    • All studies in your repository or shared to you can be searched and viewed from the Images page. The limitation of viewing the most recent 600 owned and shared studies will be removed.
    • The study list will include paging and will show the number of user-selected studies at one time.
    • Filtering will be improved to search across one or more columns.
    • A Refresh button will be added to maintain the sorting and filtering while refreshing the list of studies.
    • The Images menu will be activated by hovering over it, lessening the need to click when navigating to the Images, PACS, or Requests pages.

  • Images Count
The image count will be visible under the thumbnail on the Images, Advanced Search, and PACS pages. The count will differentiate between image files and non-image files (e.g. DICOM SR).

  • Physician Nominations
SSO affiliated Physicians will be able to nominate studies from the Advanced Search > Network Images tab.

  • Pinned Sidebar
The full name and the primary phone number will display when hovering over the contact in on the left Pinned sidebar.

  • Accelerator 3.0*
    • The Accelerator will be a 64-bit application, taking advantage of more memory on the server.
    • This new version will support uploading DICOM SR/RT/GSPS files into PowerShare.
    • A separate Accelerator will no longer be needed for customers of both PowerShare and mPower.

* Indicates a feature currently available only to customers who are in our Early Adopter program. For additional information, please contact our support team or your outreach coordinator.
