Configuring Peer Review Categories

NOTE: Peer Review  is a purchasable feature. Contact your Nuance sales representative for more information.

In this procedure, you select the modalities subject to peer review. For example, you might select x-rays and MRI as the eligible modalities. Any exams that meet the conditions you select here will be subject to the review process. You must indicate the number of reports the radiologist is to dictate for each eligible modality before being prompted to perform a peer review.

Suppose, for example, that you set 30 as the frequency for the MRI modality. At the 30th MRI study for a particular provider, if there is a prior study that falls within the Maximum age for peer reviewed report period, the provider is prompted to perform a peer review. Otherwise, the prompt occurs at the next MRI with an eligible prior study. Once the provider performs a peer review, the count is set back to zero.

Note that if you set frequencies of 5 for the CT modality and 10 for the US modality, a provider might be prompted to review a CT study and immediately be prompted again to review a US study, if prior studies exist in each case.

To configure the site’s review categories:

1.  In the Setup group, select the Sites tab.

2.  Select Peer Reviews. The Review Intervals dialog box opens.

3.  Select an interval for each modality you want to include. This number represents the number of reports the radiologist is to dictate before being prompted to perform a peer review on a relevant prior exam. For modalities you do not want to include, select Disabled.

4.  When you have finished, select Save and Close.
