The foot pedal preferences govern how the software responds when the user presses each of the controls on the foot pedal.
There are separate foot pedal settings for transcription and dictation. For example, you can configure the right pedal to fast forward the audio when the user is a transcriptionist, and configure it to go to the next field when the user is a dictation provider.
To configure the foot pedal for the current user:
For each pedal motion by a particular type of user, select a response from the drop-down list. For example, if you assign Fast Forward as the action for Editor Foot Pedal Left Click; the audio will fast forward when an editor user presses and releases the left pedal.
Note that the list below is comprehensive, but not all of the actions listed are available on each button. Use the drop-down list to see available actions for each button.
Previous field: Moves cursor to the previous field
Next field: Moves cursor to the next field
Toggle play audio on/off: Toggles dictation on or off; remains that way until toggled again.
Deadman play audio: Plays audio as long as pedal is held; stops playback when pedal is released.
Transcribe: Transcribes the dictated text and places it in the Report Editor window
Rewind: Rewinds for as long as pedal is held
Fast forward: Fast-forwards for as long as pedal is held
Previous discrepancy: Highlights the previous discrepancy located by the Assure consistency checker (which is a purchasable option).
Next discrepancy: Highlights the next discrepancy located by the Assure consistency checker (which is a purchasable option).
Use deadman switch (Author Center Pedal only): Records author's dictation as long as the pedal is held; stops recording when pedal is released.
Toggle dictation on/off (Author Center Pedal only): Turns the author's microphone on and off.
Previous field or table cell: Moves the cursor to the previous cell in a table.
Next field or table cell: Moves the cursor to the next cell in a table.
