Release notes for Dragon Medical 360 | Direct 1.3 Service Release 3

This service release provides improvements for Citrix and WTS deployments. It is recommended for all organizations deploying DM 360 Direct in this type of environment.

Citrix/WTS

Improved handling of audio settings in Citrix and WTS environments. End users will only need to run the Audio Wizard the first time they use a workstation. [PSP00067936].

DM 360 Direct stability has been improved in Citrix and WTS environments. [PSP00068187].

Solved issues

Dictation

• When DM 360 Direct is restored from the System Tray, the Dictation Box is no longer automatically opened. [PSP00066930]

• End users can now correct text in the Dictation Box the first time it is opened. [PSP00066533]
• In Microsoft Word documents, containing Microsoft Word fields, end users can now replace selected text via recording. [PSP00065184].

Citrix

• A second user can now start DM 360 Direct in Citrix deployments. [PSP00067150]

Solved issues

Logon

• Users can now log on to DM 360 Direct on different workstations. [PSP00066708]

General

• An error message is no longer displayed when switching between third party applications. [PSP00061007]
• Closing a third party application while the speech focus is anchored to it no longer causes as error. [PSP00065357]
• Recognized text corrected in the Dictation Box is now properly considered for adapting the speech profile. [PSP00066210, PSP00066440]
• Recording into Microsoft Internet Explorer-based applications no longer opens the Dictation Box. [PSP00065100]
• The Dictation Box font setting is now correctly applied. [PSP00066259]

New features

• Auto-texts now support placeholders. Users can use their voice, device buttons and hotkeys to navigate and fill out placeholders in auto-texts.
• The user can now enable visual and audio feedback for voice commands.
• Selection voice commands for words, sentences and paragraphs are now available.
• Application workflow voice commands are now available (for example, transferring text from the Dictation Box).
• Anchoring the speech focus can now be done automatically or when recording is started.

• User authentication is now supported as an optional feature. You can enable authentication in the configuration file via the Authentication setting; the values available are listed in the configuration file (LDAP is not yet supported).

To enable native authentication, (via NMS), modify the setting as follows:

To authenticate users against NMS, administrators must create users and assign them passwords via the Nuance Management Console.

• Splash screen customization is now supported. You can lay a custom image over the DM 360 Direct splash screen; the overlay image will be placed in the lower left corner of the splash screen.

• The Dictation Box is now more sophisticated (for example, resizable, font size selection, etc).
• Linux thin clients (in a Citrix environment) are now supported.
• Microsoft Remote Desktop Services are now supported.
• Microsoft Windows 8 is now supported.

Important information

• Microsoft will stop supporting Windows XP in April 2014 and have already reduced support activities for Windows XP-specific issues. For this reason we cannot guarantee the stability of DM 360 Direct when running on Windows XP compared to later Microsoft operating systems. We strongly recommend upgrading to a newer version of Microsoft Windows.

• User settings from previous releases (for example, hotkeys) are reset to the default settings in this release.
• The configuration file has been updated:

EndpointBindString has been changed to OrganizationToken

EndpointAddress has been changed to ServerURL

The changes are backward compatible for this release but it is recommended to change to the new setting names.

Solved issues

Hotkeys

• DM 360 Direct no longer registers unsuitable hotkeys which prevented users from typing certain characters. [PSP00062292, PSP00064494]

Microsoft Word/Microsoft Outlook

• If the document contains sequences of new line characters, DM 360 Direct now inserts text at the correct cursor position. [PSP00965186, PSP00065040]
• DM 360 Direct no longer displays an error message saying that the Microsoft Word add-in is not loaded when a read-only Microsoft Word document or Microsoft Outlook email message has the focus. [PSP00065110]
• Microsoft Outlook no longer crashes when dictating into the subject line of an email. [PSP00062797]

General

• DM 360 Direct no longer creates zero-sized files in the C:\Temp directory. [PSP00065622]
• Flemish is now correctly labeled in the logon dialog box. [PSP00064602]
• Voice commands no longer stop working after some time. [PSP00065487]

Known issues

• Custom commands defined in the Nuance Management Console are case sensitive. For example, a custom command defined as ^s sends the key sequence CTRL+S and a custom command defined as ^S sends the key sequence CTRL+SHIFT+S.
• Anchoring the speech focus does not work in Internet Explorer.
• Installing Dragon Medical 360 | Direct when Microsoft Word is open sometimes fails. Workaround: Close Microsoft Word before installing Dragon Medical 360 | Direct.

• Microsoft Windows 8:

Issues might arise in some circumstances when recording into RichEdit controls or Microsoft Word.

DM 360 Direct does not support Windows 8-style GUI (Metro) but only allows recording in Windows 8 desktop mode.
