New features

Personal lexicon management

Users can add new words to their personal vocabulary and modify existing words to adjust for individual pronunciation. Once added to the personal vocabulary, administrators can distribute personal words to a group, site or organization via the Nuance Management Console (NMC). The Personal Lexicon Manager is available on the What You Can Say page.

Personal auto-text management

Users can add new auto-texts and manage existing user level auto-texts assigned to them from within DM 360 Direct. Once added, administrators can distribute personal auto-texts to a group, site or organization via NMC. The Manage Auto-texts dialog box is opened from the DM 360 Direct application menu.

Personal command management

Users can add new custom commands and manage existing user level custom commands assigned to them from within DM 360 Direct. Once added, administrators can distribute personal custom commands to a group, site or organization via NMC. Custom commands use the same content syntax as custom commands as created in NMC; for more information on how to define a custom command, see the installation guide. The Manage Commands dialog box is opened from the DM 360 Direct application menu.

Text formatting

Users can apply text formatting via voice command to selected text in supported third party applications and text controls; for a list of supported applications and text controls, see the installation guide. The available text formats are bold, italic and underline.

The Dictation Box can be configured to operate in formatting mode which enables users to apply text formatting to text dictated into the Dictation Box and transfer the formatted text to an unsupported application if it accepts rich text content.

Audio setup

Users will no longer need to explicitly set up the connected audio device via the Audio Wizard. DM 360 Direct will now adjust the recording level to the optimal setting for speech recognition during runtime and continuously applies changes transparently during recording. The Audio Wizard is no longer delivered with the package.

Admin features

LDAP authentication is now available to be enabled in the authentication section of the configuration file. The LDAP authentication option leverages the Nuance Management Server (NMS) LDAP authentication module (see the NMS documentation on how to configure LDAP support). Users still need to be pre-created in NMS and are not auto-provisioned when using the LDAP authentication method.

Log data is now uploaded to the 360 | SpeechAnywhere Services (SAS) Server during runtime. DM 360 Direct log data is merged into the SAS client log file; for more information about SAS log file storage, see the SAS administration guide. A local backlog of log information is kept on the client machine; the local log file does not contain sensitive information.

DM 360 Direct now makes use of the default proxy as configured in the Internet Settings of Microsoft Windows.

DM 360 Direct now supports PowerMic II device button events in Citrix environments. To enable support for PowerMic II device button events in Citrix environments, you need to install the client and server-side device button drivers. The drivers are packaged in the 360 | Development Platform Terminal Services driver package.

Important information

Voice commands used to navigate between text controls in an application and fields within an auto-text have changed.

To navigate between text controls within an application, the user says next control | previous control.

To navigate between fields in auto-texts, the user says first field | last field | next field | previous field.

If DM 360 Direct is misconfigured in the configuration file, it will now abort and log the fault in the log file.

Log level configuration is now handled differently; changes to the log level need to be done in a separate configuration file section. To change the log level, change the following settings to the desired log level (as communicated to you by Nuance technical services):

<logger name=”Nuance.SoD.Generic”>

<level value=”ERROR” />

</logger>

<logger name=”Nuance.SoD.Text”>

<level value=”ERROR” />

</logger>
