Release notes for Dragon Medical One Desktop Application 3.0 Service Release 2 (3.0.102.1109)
Important information
- StandAlone and StandAlone MSI packages: The SoD.exe.config file delivered with this version is required. Dragon Medical One Desktop Application will not start if used with older configuration files.
Improvements
- PowerMic Mobile is now delivered as an integrated part of Dragon Medical One Desktop Application; it no longer relies on a separate process to communicate with the PowerMic Mobile Service. The port requirements are now in-line with the Dragon Medical One Desktop Application port requirements; this means that ports 8010 and 8731 are no longer required for PowerMic Mobile.
- Dragon Medical One Desktop Application now provides a virtual extension for Nuance PowerMic II device buttons in an RDS environment.
- Dragon Medical One Desktop Application now supports the Nuance PowerMic III device.
Command line start-up [SOD-6056, SOD-6057]
- If only one speech recognition topic is configured, this topic is automatically specified for the end user (even if the
–topic
command line parameter is not passed).
- If more than one speech recognition topic is configured and the
–topic
command line parameter is not specified, the end user is asked to select a speech recognition topic in the logon dialog box (once). Dragon Medical One Desktop Application then sets the topic last used for a specific user without presenting the logon dialog box again.
- If the set of allowed microphones is configured and a specific microphone using the
-mic
command line parameter is specified, the microphone passed via the command line is used before the allowed microphones prioritization.
Solved issues
- Dragon Medical One Desktop Application no longer displays an error message reporting an internal audio error if connection to the Nuance PowerMic Mobile app is temporarily lost (for example, by putting the Nuance PowerMic Mobile app to the background on the end user's device) and the recording state will no longer get out of sync, in this scenario. [SOD-6025, CAVE-1052]
- Dragon Medical One Desktop Application no longer opens the Dictation Box when trying to dictate into protected Microsoft Word documents containing fields that can be filled out by end users. [SOD-5463, SOD-6030]
- The Dragon Medical One Desktop Application configuration setting
ServerURL
is no longer incorrectly treated as case-sensitive. [SOD-3570]
- The Nuance PowerMic Mobile pairing dialog box no longer takes up to two minutes to open in high load and high latency Citrix environments. [SOD-5963, CAVE-1086]

New features
End users can now register with Nuance to get access to speech recognition in Nuance Healthcare ID-enabled mobile applications. End users are offered the opportunity to register after they have logged on to Dragon Medical One; registration is optional.
- Nuance Management Server LocalAuthenticator LDAP authentication:
In addition to the Nuance Management Server (NMS) CallForwarder, Dragon Medical One now supports the NMS LocalAuthenticator component to validate credentials against LDAP/AD servers when logging on. To enable the LocalAuthenticator, in the Dragon Medical One configuration file, specify ldaplocal
as the authentication method; for more information on configuring Dragon Medical One, see the Installation and Administration Guide. For more information on the NMS LocalAuthenticator, see the NMS/NMC documentation.
Improvements
- Port 443 for communication with NMS:
From this release of Dragon Medical One, communication with NMS will only use port 443; additional non-standard ports (8010) are no longer required to be opened for communication.
- Improved CPU consumption during log on:
The logon procedure has been improved including significantly reducing CPU utilization for the logon screen; note that for very short periods of time CPU utilization can still increase.
- Improved usability of auto-text field navigation:
While navigating and filling out fields with their voice, end users can now continue speaking without the need to wait for the field to be selected.
- Auto-text field marker configuration shared with Dragon Medical SpeechKit integrations:
Auto-text field markers, that have been customized by end users, are now shared with applications that integrate a Dragon Medical SpeechKit client SDK, enabling end users to share auto-texts with fields across different platforms.
- Improved usability of formatting voice commands:
End users can now use additional voice commands to format text; bold that, normal that, underline that and italicize that have been added as alternatives to the existing voice commands.
Solved issues
- Microsoft Internet Explorer no longer sometimes closes when dictating into web-based applications. [SOD-5258, SOD-2793]
- The text cursor is no longer sometimes placed at an incorrect position, after correction and selection voice commands, for some text fields in Cerner Dynamic Documentation. [SOD-3106, SOD-2870]
- Additional single characters are no longer sometimes placed after dictating a sentence in some text fields in Cerner Dynamic Documentation. [SOD-3106, SOD-2871]
- Dragon Medical One no longer shut down unexpectedly with an error message when trying to log on with an unprovisioned (new) user, for organizations that have turned off auto-provisioning. [SOD-2806]
- Text is now properly transferred from the Dictation Box to full screen RDS sessions. [SOD-2327, SOD-3353, SOD-2803]
- When dictating into Microsoft Outlook messages, text is no longer scrolled out of view without displaying a scroll bar. [SOD-1248]
- Minimizing the DragonBar in virtual server environment deployments no longer leads to visual artifacts on the screen in some cases. [SOD-2381]
- Broken links in the English and Norwegian installation and administration guides have been fixed. [SOD-2773]
- The cursor position is now correctly placed in Microsoft Internet Explorer-based applications after selection voice commands. [SOD-3106, SOD-2870]
- Additional single characters are no longer inserted into the text in some Microsoft Internet Explorer-based applications. [SOD-3106, SOD-2871]
- Dragon Medical One no longer consumes more CPU cycles than necessary during the logon procedure. [SOD-1904, SOD-3206]
- Users are no longer prevented from using PowerMic Mobile as the input device for Citrix endpoints (that do not have a built-in audio device) with the Nuance Virtual Client Extension installed. [SOD-3100, CAVE-808]
Known issues
- Placing the text cursor inside an auto-text field manually will not properly select the field automatically when the end user starts to speak. [SOD-5369]
Workaround: Use voice commands to select auto-text fields (for example, first field), to start filling out auto-text fields.
- Auto-text field navigation microphone buttons and hotkeys do not properly select auto-text fields if speech recognition is not previously used in the text field. [SOD-5366, DNB-6907]
Workaround: Use field navigation voice commands or insert auto-texts via voice.
Important information
- The version of Dragon Medical SpeechKit delivered with this release includes preview features for managing and training the vocabulary.
- From 2016-01-12 Microsoft stopped support for Windows XP Embedded (see the Microsoft Windows XP Embedded Support Lifecycle policy). In line with the Nuance third-party end-of-life policy, Nuance will stop supporting Windows XP Embedded in an upcoming release of Dragon Medical One.
Infrastructure
- Dragon Medical SpeechKit 3.0 (or higher) is required.
- Nuance Management Server 5.0 (or higher) is required.
- Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5 (or higher) is now required.
-
Virtualized environments: To use Dragon Medical One in a Citrix XenApp/XenDesktop, Microsoft RDS or VMware Horizon View environment, install the corresponding Nuance virtual extension (version 24.0.15.0) on the client PC and on the server/virtual desktop where Dragon Medical One is installed.
End-of-life: Third party environments
Support for third party environments is only valid as long as they are supported by the corresponding vendor and might be subject to other restrictions. Please contact Nuance Technical Support for details. For more information, see the documentation delivered with the third party product and supporting Nuance documentation.
When support by the vendor has stopped, Nuance will continue support if an issue is specific to the Nuance solution, within the limitations of the vendor’s and Nuance's end-of-life policy. This means that issues that are a combination of the vendor’s component and the Nuance solution cannot be supported.
