eTIPS
Did
you know that configuring a Transcription User's
profile to automatically load the next dictation
can increase his or
her productivity?
Dictations are pooled to users for
transcription and editing - this is configured on
the VoiceSystem with pools and pool scripts.
By default, when a transcription user logs into
Word Client or Enterprise Editor, these jobs will
be downloaded automatically, but the user must
select "Start New From Dictation" each time they
wish to work on one of them. The TextSystem
provides a way to automatically load the next
dictation job when the user completes a document
so that user is not required to start the new
dictation by manually choosing "Start New From
Dictation." This can save the
transcriptionist valuable time when transitioning
from one job to the next.
Click the play button on the
following eTIPS Video to see a
quick demonstration about automatically
loading the next dictation.
To configure this option:
- Launch the DESS
TextSystem Explorer
application.
- Locate the User Type that
the transcription users belong to, or an
individual transcriptionist.
- Right-click the User
Type or User, and
choose Word Client
Settings.
- Click the Options tab.
- Check the box labeled, "Request a new
digital dictation job automatically after ending
the current document (If digital dictation unit
is interfaced)."

- Click OK to save the
change.
NOTE:
The transcription user needs to log out of
Word Client / Correction Client and back into the
application before this change will take effect.
Did you know
that you can print a complete list of all
worktypes with their text descriptions from the
VoiceSystem?
Particularly for systems that
contain many sites and worktypes; the ability to
print a comprehensive list of worktypes for a
given site is an easy way to create a quick
reference for yourself or others in your
organization. Additionally, if your computer
is configured to support printing to a file, the
file print can be emailed to others as an
attachment.
Follow
these steps to print worktypes and their
descriptions.
- Start the DESS
VoiceSystem Explorer
application.
- Expand the Site you are
interested in.
- Expand Id Field Matching.
- Select the Field (1-6)
used to denote worktypes for your system.
Typically this is Field 1.
- On the Toolbar, click the
Printer icon to print all
items listed in the right
pane.

- Repeat steps 2 - 5 for any other sites you
are interest in.
TIP:
The ability to print field values and their
descriptions is not limited to the worktype (Field
1) list. You can repeat these same basic
steps for any of the other fields (1 - 6).
For
more information about printing worktypes or
other ID Fields, log into iSupport
and search for solution 10136,

Guide L-2957-008. If you are not an

Did
you know that correct positioning of Header and
Footer tags in TextSystem Document Templates
is very important to system
behavior?
Document
templates offer a highly customizable and flexible
method to speed production of document creation in
the TextSystem. Document templates typically rely
on the Header and Footer features of Word. It is
very important that headers and footers, within
document templates, are properly positioned and
tagged if your organization uploads documents to
an HIS system or is implementing the
DESS Turbo Speech System. The start and end
header/footer tags ensure proper placement of
these document sections when the document is
uploaded. Additionally, these tags notify the
Turbo Speech system on how to properly handle
document body text as the Speech system processes
draft text for speech draft evaluation.
Indirectly, improper placement of these tags will
have a significant negative impact on speech
recognition performance.
Perform
the following to properly configure a
Worktype template to include header and footer
tags.
- Launch
the DESS TextSystem Explorer
application.
- Navigate
to the Worktype templates and
open Template to
edit.
- When
the document opens, access the
Header.
- Place
the cursor at the beginning of the first line of
the header.
- Press
Enter to create a blank line.
- Move
up to the blank line and enter
<START HEADER> exactly as
written here, including the greater / less than
signs.
- Place
the cursor at the last line of the header. In
this blank line enter <END
HEADER> exactly as written here.
- Place
the cursor at the beginning of the first line of
the footer.
- Press
Enter to create a blank line.
- In
this blank line enter <START
FOOTER> exactly as written here.
- Place
the cursor at the last line of the footer. In
this blank line enter <END
FOOTER> exactly as written here.
- Repeat
these steps on page 2 of your template if your
template uses the MS Word "Different
First Page" option.
- Go
back to the Header and select the text
<START HEADER>.
- On
the MS Word menu, click
Format, select
Font, then select the
Hidden checkbox.
- Repeat
steps 13 and 14 for each inserted
tag/text.
- Place
the cursor where transcribed or draft text
should begin on this template.
- Press
Ctrl+N to save your changes and
exit the template editor.
Your
templates should resemble the following
example:
Did
you know that Enterprise Workstation (EWS) has
several different Uniform Resource Locator (URL)
Connections that can be used to Administer and
check the System?
In addition to the normal URL
used in Internet Explorer to login to EWS, EWS
supports a number of different connections for
administrative, configuration, and testing
purposes. Here is a quick reference list of
helpful connections and their
descriptions. Enter the following URL
address into Internet Explorer, to connect to the
appropriate function. Note: for all of the URL's
below, %webserver% = your EWS Web Server name. So,
for example, if your web server is named
'Nuance-Speech-Web', then you would use the
following URL in Internet Explorer to connect to
EWS. http://Nuance-Speech-Web/exv List
of EWS URL addresses and their definitions:
