Release overview

Nuance Management Center 5.9 is a full release that includes:

• Warning message when deleting words
• Dragon Medical Virtual Assistant license and product type
• Stateless session management framework

What's new

New functionality for administrative staff

• Warning message when deleting words
  The NMC console now displays a warning message when you delete speech words.
  Words you select for deletion never display in recognition results. The speech engine returns the nearest alternative.
  Delete words with extreme caution.
  

• Dragon Medical Virtual Assistant license and product type
  A license and privilege is available for customers that use the Dragon Medical Virtual Assistant product.
  

  • In the NMC console, an administrator with the Product Manage Dragon Medical Virtual Assistant privilege can view the Dragon Medical Virtual Assistant license in the License Type fields and issue a Dragon Medical Virtual Assistant license when creating a new user account.

  • Three license types are available:

    • Dragon Medical Virtual Assistant: Physician

      Dragon Medical Virtual Assistant: Nurse/PA

      Dragon Medical Virtual Assistant: Administrator

  • An administrator can configure Auto-provisioning settings for the product in the Dragon Medical Virtual Assistant section, under Organization Details>Auto-provisioning.

• Stateless session management framework:
  The Nuance Management Center, version 5.9, uses a stateless session management framework.
  The framework improves network performance: reducing latency and decreasing server loads.

• Scheduling the cloud migration tool to run during periods of low network traffic:
  The NMC server auto-runs the cloud migration tool as follows:
  

  • If the number of on-premise server users is less than 10, the NMC server runs the tool immediately.

  • If the number of on-premise server users is 10 or more, the server automatically schedules the tool to run during off-peak hours.

• Ensuring admins only run the latest version of the Cloud Migration Tool:
  

  • If you run an old version of the cloud migration tool on NMS 5.8, the NMC console shows an error message stating you are running old version of the tool.

  • If you run an old version of the cloud migration tool on NMS 5.9 or higher, the NMC console shows the error message right after the cloud credentials screen.

• Grants for running the Cloud migration tool:
  New grants control the ability to run the cloud migration tool.
  

  • Administrators must have the "Run Cloud Migration Tool" grant to run the cloud migration tool for an organization.

  • Administrators with the "Run Cloud Migration Tool in All Organizations" global grant can grant the "Run Cloud Migration Tool" grant to all organizations.

• Viewing speech metrics by input device:
  In the cloud usage report, you can view dictation metrics for input devices.
  

  • You can specify an input device in the search criteria.

  • The report results include a sortable column that shows dictation minutes per device.

  • The device column is included when you export the report results.

• Improvements when copying and pasting an auto-text:
  

  • The NMC console displays a notification if you try to paste an auto-text in to a location with an auto-text of the same name.

  • After viewing the notification, you can choose to stop or continue the paste action.
