Did you know you could search medical websites by using voice commands?
You can use voice commands to search for information on the PubMed, WebMD, UpToDate, and ICD9 Web sites. The voice commands can be issued at any time; a Web browser does not have to be open. The following table shows a list of the voice commands that you can use:

For example, the following illustration shows the results that appear automatically when you dictate the voice command, "Search PubMed for angioplasty."

Did you know you could prevent the unintended clicking of Hyperlinks, Menu Commands and Email Sends?
It is possible to prevent unintended email sends by enabling the Require click to select menus and controls option. This will ensure that before an email can be sent you must speak the word "click" before speaking the menu control (in this example, the send button). To enable this option:
- Launch the Dragon Medical application if it is not already running.
- Access the DragonBar.
- On the Menu bar select Tools -- Options.
- Click the Commands tab.
- Place a checkmark in the Require click to select menus and controls option.
- Click OK to save.
- When a warning message appears, click the OK button and then Stop and Restart the Dragon Medical Application.
It may be of additional value to enable the Require click to select hyperlinks in HTML Windows option. This will prevent you from speaking words interpreted as commands which will inadvertently click hyperlinks and menu controls within html / browser enabled windows or applications. Again, if this configuration option is selected, you will be required to speak "click" followed by the hyperlink or menu control name. To enable this option:
- Launch the Dragon Medical application if it is not already running.
- Access the DragonBar.
- On the menu bar select Tools -- Options.
- Click the Commands tab.
- Place a checkmark in the Require click to select hyperlinks in HTML Windows option.
- Click OK to save.
- When a warning message appears, click the OK button and then Stop and Restart the Dragon Medical Application.
Please NOTE: These configurations have often rectified various problem scenarios for the Dragon Medical end-user who has experienced unexpected browser / application functionality.
Click the Presentation icon below to launch a brief video which will guide you through the steps to prevent unintentional clicking.

Did you know what changes are introduced in Dragon Medical Practice Edition 2.0 to work with the Windows 8 operating system?
In Windows 8, Microsoft introduced major changes for end-users compared to previous operating systems, but offers an interface similar to the familiar desktop (minus its Start menu button).
The DragonBar does not display on the Windows Start screen. Dragon is designed to be used primarily on the Windows desktop. Dragon Medical Practice Edition 2.0 includes the new Dragon Audio Bar, which is a small toolbar that allows providers to use Dragon's microphone button on the Windows 8 Start screen.
Note: For the latest details on using Dragon in Windows 8, please see the Dragon support page and Knowledgebase on the Nuance website:

Starting Dragon from the Windows 8 desktop
To launch Dragon Medical from the Windows 8 desktop:
- Confirm the microphone is connected.
- Start Dragon by double-clicking its desktop icon.

Starting Dragon from the Windows 8 Start Screen
To launch Dragon Medical from the Windows 8 Start screen:
- Click the Dragon tile to start Dragon.
- If access to Dragon's microphone button and volume meter at all times is desired, click the Dragon Audio Bar tile to start the Dragon Audio Bar.
The Dragon Audio bar now displays on the Windows start screen and lets you use the Dragon microphone on the Windows Start screen.

Working with the Dragon Audio Bar
- You can drag the Dragon Audio Bar to any location on your screen.
- If you switch to the Windows desktop, you may see both the Dragon Audio Bar and the DragonBar.
- If you wish to close the Dragon Audio Bar, click its minimize icon. This only closes the Dragon Audio Bar, it does not close Dragon.
Command and Control
- In Windows 8, there is no Start menu on the desktop, but equivalent functionality is provided by the Charms bar and the Start screen. In Dragon Medical Practice Edition 2.0, you can use the commands “open Charms bar” and “open Start screen.” To see the expanded view of the Start screen, you use the command “show all applications.”
- To perform actions in Windows 8, you can also take advantage of Dragon’s ability to press keys. For example, you can say the commands “press Windows h” (this accesses Windows 8’s Share feature) and “press Windows key.”
- You can dictate in the Search field. (After entering your search term or terms, you could use the command “press Enter.”) Note that, from the Windows 8 Start screen, typing or dictating automatically brings up Search.
Windows 8 restrictions
- Dragon is designed to be used primarily on the Windows desktop.
- Dragon Medical windows can only be opened in the desktop environment on Windows 8. Examples of Dragon windows are the Open User Profiles dialog, the Vocabulary Editor, the Accuracy Center, the list of open windows, and the Edit Keywords window triggered by commands such as “search maps for….” If, while outside the desktop environment, you perform an action that causes one of these windows to open, that window will be open on the desktop.
- Dragon’s Results indicator does not appear when you use Dragon outside of the desktop environment.
- When using Dragon on the Start screen, many of Dragon’s usual capabilities do not apply. There is no Full Text Control.
- Dragon’s capabilities for Internet Explorer only apply to the desktop environment; they do not apply to the Internet Explorer full-screen app.
