Did you know that it's possible to suppress routing of a document to a manually added Carbon Copy (CC) recipient until final signature?
Beginning in version 8.3 of the DESS TextSystem, there is a feature that allows for suppressing the routing of a document to a manually added CC recipient until the document has been electronically signed by the provider.
Press the play button on the following eTIPS video icon to see a brief demonstration on how to configure the DESS TextSystem to suppress document routing to manually added cc recipients.

The following are step-by-step instructions on how to enable this feature for a group of providers who electronically sign documents:
- Launch the TextSystem Explorer application.
- Expand the User Types.
- Right click the User Type related to the providers who electronically sign documents, and select Edit User Type.
- Navigate to the Routing tab.
- In the For Providers Route When group, select the Suppress manual CCs until final signed option.
- Click the OK button to save changes and exit the User Type settings.

Did you know you could control the behavior of a voice job if the dictator disconnects the telephone before completing a dictation job?
The VoiceSystem has options that allow you to control the behavior of incomplete dictations created by telephone dictators. By default, dictation jobs are created as Ready status jobs, and if dictate users hang-up before intentionally completing the job, they are sent to transcription.
Instead of creating Ready status jobs, you can easily configure the VoiceSystem to mark the job as Open/Interrupted. Open/Interrupted jobs remain in the dictator's (provider's) in-process queue for later completion if the dictator hangs up, or is disconnected, before intentionally marking the dictation complete. Jobs in the Open/Interrupted status are presented to the dictator for completion the next time they login to the VoiceSystem.
The options to set this behavior are located in the Master profile in the Voice Explorer application.
To modify these options:
- Log in to the Voice Explorer application with your user name and password.
- Expand the site where the Master profile(s) of interest reside.
- Right-click Master profile, and select Modify Master Profile.

- Click the Options tab to view and edit the miscellaneous profile configurations.

- If you want the jobs to stay in the dictator's queue to complete at a later time, select the options: On disconnect mark job Open / Interrupted and Check for Open / Interrupted jobs on logon.
- Click OK to save the selections.

Did you know you can turn off Track Changes in Microsoft Word for an Enterprise Editor (EXEditor) or Word Client report?
If you see balloons and/or strikethroughs throughout the body of an EXEditor or Word Client report, you are likely seeing the Track Changes feature of Microsoft Word. Not only does it appear messy, but it might potentially cause problems if this report is uploaded to your Hospital Information System, if it is unable to handle these in the document format being uploaded. Typically, when Microsoft Word tracks changes, deletions display as balloons in the margins and insertions display as underlined text. Deletions — as well as comments (or "annotations") — can also display inline.
An edited report may look similar to the following example:

There are various ways to hide the tracked changes or comments — but all the changes that were made while the Track Changes feature was turned on and all the comments that were inserted remain as part of the document until the changes are accepted or rejected (or, in the case of comments, deleted).
NOTE: Hiding tracked changes does not delete existing tracked changes or comments from the report. Instead, hiding tracked changes enables you to view the report without having to wade through strikethroughs, underlining, and balloons.
To remove tracked changes and comments from an EXEditor or Word Client Microsoft Word report:
IMPORTANT: When you turn off Track Changes, you can revise the document without marking changes. Turning off the Track Changes feature for a report that already contains tracked changes does not remove those previously tracked changes.
- From an open Microsoft Word report menu, select Review.

- On the Review tab, in the Changes group, click Next or Previous to review each tracked change and comment instance.

- For each instance, choose one of following:
- On the Changes area, click Accept.
- On the Changes area, click Reject.
- Click the Delete key.
- Save the report.
NOTE: These instructions are for Microsoft Word 2010. Please refer to Microsoft's website for instructions on how to remove Track Changes for other versions of Microsoft Word.
