Did you know that the Microsoft Edge Browser can disable Full Text Control for EHR fields?
Customers using the Microsoft Edge Browser with some web-based EHRs may find protected EHR fields, meaning Full Text Control is disabled for those fields. This is caused when those EHRs do not currently have support for their underlying Edit Controls with the Microsoft Edge Browser.

For instance, this has been reported and confirmed by the MicroMD EMR vendor.
Workaround
In this case, the problem was resolved by running the EHR in the Windows Internet Explorer browser instead.
Otherwise, the workaround whenever Full Text Control is disabled due to an unsupported edit control or windows class is to use the Dragon Medical Dictation Box.
Note: The Microsoft Edge Browser is in the process of being qualified for support with Dragon Medical products.

Did you know the Dragon Medical support policy was updated for the Epic Hyperspace EHR?
See the most recent Epic releases below and their support positions with Dragon Medical.
Epic 2015 Hyperspace
Dragon Medical products primarily support EHR software by supporting the underlying Edit Controls embedded within each EHR.
Starting with Epic Hyperspace 2014 and now in Epic Hyperspace 2015, Epic introduced a new method for edit control named Web SmartTextBox. Currently, this control is most commonly used in areas where dictation is unlikely (ex. Label Preview, Results, …). However, Epic is continuing to use the EpicTER82Class edit control in the 2015 version in areas where dictation is most used.
Beginning in the Dragon Medical Network Edition (DMNE), version 2.4.1 release, the EpicTER82Class edit control is supported for both plain and rich text dictation. Support for the Web SmartTextBox for only plain text dictation is also available in this DMNE release.
Epic 2016 Hyperspace
Epic plans to transition more input fields, including those used during dictation, to the new SmartTextBox control in Epic Hyperspace 2016. Nuance and Epic have worked together to ensure compatibility with support for the SmartTextBox edit control in the DMNE 2.5.2 HF1 release.

Did you know Anti-Virus applications can disable the PowerMic Control Application?
Technical Support has found cases where reported Dragon Medical issues of PowerMic buttons ceasing to function are caused by anti-virus software deleting PowerMic DLL files.
As an example, (SolarWinds N-able N-central Security Manager) AV Defender identified PowerMicCtrl.dll as a Gen:Variant.Graftor.297992 virus threat and deleted the PowerMic DLL.
The PowerMicCtrl.dll file should be added to the list of anti-virus exclusions for every Dragon Medical client machine where the PowerMic Control application is installed.
The Nuance PowerMic Control application is used by Dragon Medical products to support PowerMic microphones and relay PowerMic button events in virtualized environments.
