Did you know about the new Visibility voice command for DMNE 2.3 Hidden Dictation Box?

A new feature in Dragon Medical 360 | Network Edition's (DMNE) version 2.3 software now provides a native voice command in the DMNE client allowing providers to set the visibility (transparency) level for the Hidden Dictation Box. The visibility level of the Hidden Dictation Box can be adjusted so that the Dictation Box can be both monitored as dictation is captured, but also allow information on the desktop behind the Dictation Box to be viewed.

Click the play button on the following eTIPS video image for a brief demonstration on how the new Visibility voice command can help improve your productivity.

Did you know how to interpret the contents of the dragon.log file?

The dragon.log file is the primary log file for all Dragon Medical client applications. The dragon.log file provides a multitude of data points unique to each customer environment and every user session. When encountering problems with Dragon Medical clients, captured data within the dragon.log file can be attached to an iSupport Service Request and provided to the Dragon Medical Technical Support team for analysis and recommended solutions.

Here are some basics for reading the dragon.log file and interpreting some of it's content.

The dragon.log file can be viewed with any text editors (for example, Windows Notepad). The following are just a few high-level points provided in the dragon.log file. The log content is Dragon Medical product and version dependent:

  • Dragon Medical software version
  • Windows OS version
  • Hardware environment (CPU, Memory, paging file, multimedia)
  • Resource consumption
  • Performance indicators
  • Machine name
  • Windows login account
  • Each launch and shutdown of Dragon Medical (product, version, components, input device)
  • Dragon profile directory path, profile opening (roaming, local cache, local)
  • Launch of each third-party application
  • Runtime operation of speech recognition activity
  • vSync session communications with XenApp server
  • Errors, warnings, failures, system crash dumps, and the conditions therein

General Content

Please see the table below for examples of general content in a dragon.log file.

Please refer to iSupport solution #16542: Dragon.log File Essentials for Dragon Medical clients for additional information on reading content in the dragon.log file on the following events:

  • Normal vSync operation
  • Sync is not working and the Dragon Medical client has reverted from Full Text Control back to Basic Dictation Mode, typically caused when the vSync MiniDragon component on the XenApp server did not respond, because:
    • Minidragon.exe is not running in this user’s Citrix session
    • Minidragon.exe is an older version than the vSync client (Dragon) version on the workstation
    • The vSync client DLL (Citrix client extension) version and the Dragon Medical client version do not match on the workstation
