Starting with the 2021.3 release, Dragon Medical One will use Microsoft Edge WebView2 to display richer content with improved usability in the Dragon Medical One personalization and help window. To support this improvement, you must deploy the Microsoft Edge WebView2 component to machines that host Dragon Medical One. Failing to do so will not impact the core functionality of Dragon Medical One but will potentially impact end users interacting with content displayed in the personalization and help window. To deploy Microsoft Edge WebView2 to machines hosting Dragon Medical One, install the Microsoft Edge WebView2 Evergreen Standalone component; for more information, see Webview2 - Microsoft Edge Developer.
Starting with the 2021 release series, Dragon Medical One requires Microsoft .NET Framework 4.7.2 (or higher). Machines that do not have this version installed will not be able to start Dragon Medical One. The Dragon Medical One MSI installer will verify that .NET Framework 4.7.2 is installed on the machine prior to installation and abort if the correct version of the .NET Framework is not installed. Please make sure that your environment is updated.
This release includes a change to the Java SDK that causes applications that integrate previous releases of the Java SDK to fail working with Dragon Medical One 2021.3 and higher. Previous releases of Dragon Medical One will not work with applications created with the new version of Java SDK. To deploy Dragon Medical One 2021.3 to your user base, you must integrate the Java SDK 2021.3 release into your application.
Dragon Medical One is now Section 508 compliant: It introduces support for screen readers and allows end users to interact with the UI elements via keyboard only.
End users are now able to navigate within the Options, Manage Step-by-step Commands and Manage Auto-texts dialog boxes via the keyboard only (without using the mouse); they can use Tab, Shift-Tab and the arrow keys to navigate between panes and UI elements within the panes.
End users are now able to configure hotkeys (for Dragon Medical One actions, step-by-step commands or microphone buttons) via the keyboard only by interacting with a button that allows them to enter the combination of keys they want to assign. After a user has assigned a hotkey, the focus is automatically moved back to the dialog box. For more information, see the end user help.
End users are now able to use screen readers to receive narrated feedback for the DragonBar and additional user interface elements in Dragon Medical One dialog boxes.
Dragon Medical One introduces new voice commands which enable users to simulate pressing keys and initiate actions without using the keyboard. The following commands are now available:
press tab/press enter/press space - simulate pressing the Tab, Enter or Space keys on the keyboard.
Note: press tab and press space are different from the existing tab key and space bar commands; they are intended to initiate actions. For example, press tab moves the focus through controls in a tab group and press space triggers an activation operation such as selecting a radio button. The existing tab key and space bar commands send the associated character, which causes the character to appear in a text control or opens the Dictation Box.
open Microsoft Word/open Microsoft Outlook - launch Microsoft Word or Microsoft Outlook.
maximize window/minimize window - maximize or minimize the application window that has the focus.
cut that/copy that/paste that - cut, copy or paste a selection (for example, the selected text or folder).
Addressed issues that caused Dragon Medical One to terminate when it was left in recording mode for extended periods of time in noisy environments. [SOD-31579]
The users preferred device is now properly pre-selected when Dragon Medical One is started from the command line; Nuance PowerMic Mobile is no longer selected as the default recording audio device. [DMOCE-900]
Minimizing the DragonBar in virtualized environments has been improved. Depending on the virtualized environment setup, a partial image of the DragonBar would be visible on the application area. [SOD-22751]
Dragon Medical One is no longer prevented from resuming in standby mode when users switch microphones via the DragonBar menu. [SOD-29370]
Addressed an issue that led to delays and caused the Dictation Box to open while users documented into McKesson Radiology 12.3.0. [DMOCE-309]
Addressed an issue that sometimes led to the contents of the clipboard being transferred instead of the dictated text when using Basic Text Control in slowly reacting environments or target applications. [DMOCE-829]
To correct the issue, a new configuration file setting has been introduced. When this setting is enabled, the dictated text will be kept on the end users' clipboard.
To enable this fix, add the following setting to the "SoD.Settings" element in the configuration file:
<setting name="BasicTextKeepTextOnClipboardAfterTransfer" serializeAs="String">
<value>True</value>
</setting>
Addressed an issue that sometimes led to Dragon Medical One not properly starting in virtualized environments when it was registered with the Google Chrome web extension for Dragon Medical One. [DMOCE-886]
Addressed an issue that led to the Dictation Box opening when attempting to document into the Epic Beaker application. [DMOCE-799]
Dragon Medical One is no longer prevented from starting when it is deployed to a file system location where the operating system user does not have write permissions. Dragon Medical One can now start up from read-only file system locations as expected. [DMOCE-989]
Addressed an issue that would cut off text on the Dragon Medical Installer UI when setting UI scaling to a value different to 100% in Microsoft Windows. [SOD-30817]
When the Grundig virtual server device drivers are deployed to a virtual server environment and you encounter issues with device support, install the latest version of the Grundig device drivers.
When deploying Dragon Medical One to virtual environments without installing the Nuance virtual extensions, the application will transition the recording state from standby mode to microphone off when a user reconnects to a previously used virtual server session. To resume with standby mode, start recording manually via the DragonBar, hotkeys or microphone buttons.
As part of the accessibility compliance enhancements introduced in the 2021.2 release, Dragon Medical One enables end users to configure hotkeys and step-by-step commands via the keyboard by pressing an icon that allows them to enter the combination of keys they want to assign. However, in some cases, if another application is also listening for global hotkeys, Dragon Medical One might not receive the combination of keys correctly.
For example, the Citrix Workspace client (formerly known as Citrix Receiver) sometimes intercepts keyboard shortcuts and prevents Dragon Medical One from receiving them. The following list of keyboard shortcuts is not exhaustive:
Shift + F1: Displays the Windows Task List.
Shift + F2: Displays or hides the Windows Title Bar for the Citrix Receiver Client window.
Shift + F3: Disconnects the ICA session and exits the Citrix Receiver.
Ctrl + F1: Opens the Windows Security dialog box (similar to Ctrl + Alt + Del).
Ctrl + F2: Displays the remote computer’s Start Menu (similar to Ctrl + Esc).
Ctrl + F3: Displays the Windows Task Manager (similar to Ctrl + Shift + Esc).
Alt + F2: Cycles through running programs in the Citrix session (similar to Alt + Esc).
Alt + Plus: Switches between programs from left to right (similar to Alt + Tab).
Alt + Minus: Switches between programs from right to left (similar to Alt + Shift + Tab).
Note: The existing hotkeys defined in Dragon Medical One are not affected and will work as expected. This problem only occurs when a hotkey is created or modified. This known issue will be addressed in a future release.
Workaround
Use Dragon Medical One 2021.1.1 to modify or create hotkeys.

Support for third-party environments is only valid as long as they are supported by the corresponding vendor and might be subject to other restrictions. Please contact Nuance Technical Support for details. For more information, see the documentation delivered with the third-party product and supporting Nuance documentation.
When standard support by the vendor has stopped, Nuance will continue support if an issue is specific to the Nuance solution, within the limitations of the vendor’s standard end-of-life and Nuance's policy. This means that issues that are a combination of the vendor’s component and the Nuance solution cannot be supported.
